1979 Mercedes 230C (W123)

That was probably what the first owner thought when ordering this beautiful W123 Coupé in 1979. Before ordering he took his friends manual shifted W123 Coupe for a test and was stunned by the sporty performance and how nice it handles under manual shifting. Mercedes already proofed it sportiness in 1977 by winning the gruelling London to Sydney marathon and finishing the East African Safari in the 123 Model. So the decision was made and his Benz should be equipped with a shift stick, just as the other german sportscar he already had in his garage.

With Mercedes obsessive desire to build a world leading automobile and safety as a key selling point, the 123 Coupe was the car of choice for Executives, Doctors, Diplomats and Stars. With a price tag of 26.252,80 DM for the Base Model, people were eager to get the Coupe early.

As the waiting time for a fresh car was over 12 month, the second hand market boomed and people were willing to pay a 5.000DM premium just to get their hands on the new model early on.

From the 18.675 ever produced 230 C only a few left the factory with a stick shift. This car was ordered in Germany with the incredible sexy colour combination of 473 champagne with 037 Siena interior and a sunroof for the hot days. The Merc shines in mostly first paint and was looked after throughout his life. The coupe was only driven for just over 100.000 km in the last 42 years.

It is perfectly maintained and all parts and technics are in full working order. The manually shifted gearbox works smoothly. It just passed the german TÜV without any complaints.
