The chassis of the 4.79-meter-long Jaguar XKR benefits more than almost any other sports car from its low weight. Even though Jaguar would like it to be a bit lighter and the concept of a high-speed lightweight is still haunting the company’s headquarters, the British rear-wheel drive car is lighter than most of the competition.
With an unladen weight of 1770 kilograms, it weighs around 300 kilograms less than a Mercedes SL 55 AMG.
The fine-tuning of springs, dampers, steering and brakes took place over months of work on the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife and could thus be projected onto almost any type of road. The success can be experienced and witnessed in every speed range.
Thanks to the electronic CATS damper system, the XKR seemingly never reaches its limits and also delivers the maximum torque of 560 Nm to the road in full, even in tight bends.
The 4.2-liter eight-cylinder engine produces 416 hp. The maximum power is reached at 6250 rpm, the maximum torque of 560 Nm is available at a respectable 4000 rpm and is just waiting to be called up. The Briton hangs greedily on the throttle and dashes from zero to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds if required.
Everything works perfectly – there are 2 minor things that need fixing:

- the rims need to be repainted (happy to do it)
- the interior part that covers the boot got loose
The car was always stored in a heated, underground garage, and covered in an auto-pijama cover, whenever not in use.
