The name was created in 1926 as a registered trademark after the merger of Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft DMG (Mercedes brand) with Benz & Cie.

Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (DMG), founded in 1890, did not sell its vehicles under the Mercedes name. The brand was not created until the turn of the century, inspired by the businessman Emil Jellinek, who traded in Daimler vehicles from 1898.
In 1900, Jellinek agreed to manufacture the new, high-performance engine model “Daimler-Mercedes,” which was the first time the name Mercedes was used as a product designation. Adapted from the name of his daughter, Mercédès Jellinek, the name thus became known in connection with DMG.

The S Class (Sonderklasse)

S-Class designates the upper class (special class) of Mercedes-Benz and stands for safe and luxurious sedans.

Although the first officially Mercedes-Benz-designated S-Class appeared in 1972 with the W116, Mercedes Benz itself refers to the W 108 models as “the actual birth of the S-Class, even if it wasn’t called that at the time.”

This offered 1966 Mercedes 250 S-class appears in good original condition.

The 37.000km shown on the speedometer suggest, given the condition, that it is probably 137,000km.

Watching the all over condition, the 3 owner must have taken good care of this beautiful classic.

In 2021 it received a complete overhaul. The engine was complete rebuild, the brakes and bearings of the chassis had been renewed and lots of little necessary parts had been restored, fixed or renewed for a reliable driving. The engine starts right up and runs smooth and the clutch works flawlessly and the manual transmission shifts precisely via the steering wheel column.
During the preparatory work for a new paint job, it was noticeable that the car was well cared for by the 3 owners, as welding work was not necessary. Interieur, incl. carpets, had been reupholstered. So let’s talk about a good refreshment on a very solid basis.
