Porsche Master 418

The Porsche Diesel Master 418 was launched on the market in 1960 as a vintage tractor for the Rotnase 408 with an advanced transmission. The Porsche tractor was available in two versions, as a 418 with 2000 rpm and as a 418 A with 2100 rpm.

ENGINE OF THE PORSCHE DIESEL MASTER 418

The tractor was equipped with a 4-cylinder engine of the 4-stroke in-line vortex chamber type. Hanging valves, an underlying gear-driven camshaft, compressed air lubrication and a gear pump characterized the engine of the Porsche Diesel Master 418. The crankshaft had five bearings. The average piston speed was 7.7 m/sec. From engine number 486 for historic tractors, single-pole glow plugs were used on the Porsche Diesel Master 418. From number 024 onwards, five-ring pistons were used in the engine of the Porsche Diesel Master 418.

TRANSMISSION AND SPEED PORSCHE TRACKER

The ZF A216, a gear changing group transmission, was used in the Porsche Diesel Master 418. The individual gears of the vintage tractors could be divided according to the surface (road, field, reverse) and into different speeds.

The Porsche Diesel Master 418 was optionally equipped with a high-speed transmission. The gearshift of the vintage tractors ran via the Fichtel & Sachs double dry clutch. The Porsche Diesel Master 418 was braked by the inner shoe brake (rear wheels) and a lockable handbrake (gearbox).

This Porsche Master 418 was first registered in Jan 1961 close to Düsseldorf in Grevenbroich. It was then sold to Kemnath close to Nürnberg until it came to its third owner in Neustadt an der Waldnaab where it was recently discovered.

The Master is unrestored and looks to be complete. It seems that at certain parts it was repainted. Everything is in working order and the Traktor is fully usable.
