In 1979, the Golf Cabriolet replaced the Beetle Cabriolet. With initially skeptical reviews due to the roll bar, the Golf Cabriolet quickly became a bestseller. The discussions about vehicle safety that began in the 1970s and media appearances such as in Remington Steele and the “Schwarzwaldklinik” helped the Golf Cabriolet on its road to success.

Similar to the Beetle, the Golf shaped an entire generation and achieved a certain cult status and is now a sought-after classic car.

This offered VW Golf 1 Cabriolet was first registered on 26.March 1987.

The now selling owner bought it about 13 years ago from a friend. He himself is a trained car mechanic and he completely repaired the car. He repaired it not for a quick sale, he wanted to drive.

During the years a lot of work was done:

• oilservices
• fluid services
• new gearbox
• new clutch
• new soft top fabric
• all suspension components
• new paint
• new exhaust
• new tires
• brakes
• interieur
• and all those typical small things

With the car comes a lot of paperwork like bills and documentation. Even the original steeringwheel is with the car.
Since his ownership it is a pure summercar, we just took it out for the fotoshoot.

Watching it close we see a lot love to the details and no rust comming through. Driving it (though just a couple meters) is a pure pleasure. The engine starts right up and the gearbox shifts direct and precise.
Steering and axles show no play. The suspension is a Koni Sport, but left in a soft adjustment. He wanted it just a little sporty and not as a race car. He says it will never be a race car, but the new suspension gives it a better performance. The original VW BBS rims show up in good quality. This convertible even has the wind deflector for a comfortable topless drive.

The all over impression gives a reliable impression of a quality-repaired classic.
