1955
MG introduced the series “A” to the public on the IAA in Frankfurt.
The MG A was originally designed by Syd Enever in 1952 as a “Series UA” with a streamlined body for George Philips’ TD for Le Mans, but he rejected it.
MG then presented the “Series UA” to Leonard Lord of BMC, who also declined because he had signed with Donald Healy shortly before for the series production of the Austin-Healy.
Falling sales of traditional MGs moved the company to produce the car itself and finally was named “MG A” as the first model of a new series.

This 1959 MG A 1500 Roadster shows up in a really Concours condition as you can see in the video:

This MG A roadster appears in a very shiny and very well painted and top conditioned original MG dove grey. You see no damages and no orange peel in the coating. Once we dig deeper to the car’s soul we must admit that this car has been really perfect restored and even every single screw had been touched. It really stands for the professional close up look. The engine starts right up and runs smoothly and the gearbox shifts precisely as it should. The brakes work fine and the steering shows no play.
The chassis, body, engine and electrical system had been renewed/overhauled as you can see in the following pictures below.
The restoration started in 2013 to 2017 and is proven by bills with a sum of 39k €. The last and second owner in Germany as well reinvested again around 10k € in the last years to get it absolutely perfect.
While driving, we notice that nothing rattles, squeaks or creaks on the Roadster. Everything fits perfectly and everything works flawlessly. The oil pressure gauge sits deliberately on the left, so swapped with the fuel gauge, because it is better to have the oil pressure in view. The thick leather is very well processed. The plug-in windows and the very good conditioned soft top are included with the car, but not installed during our drive.
The car passed the Tüv without defects and is valid until September 2022. An appraisal from April 2021 gives the car a deserved grade 1 with a replacement value of 48,000€ and that is still far below the total investment. The report from September 2021, two weeks ago, confirms the good condition.
