With this play on words “safety fast” MG introduced the TF to the market.

The TF was actually a stopgap to keep production going until the new MG A was approved for production by BMC management.
Actually, the TF, released in 1953, was basically just an upgraded TD with a rearward sloping grille and headlights integrated into the front fenders.
The engine now had a self-contained cooling system, which offered advantages in hot climates, which is why the cap on the radiator grille is now a dummy.

In 1954, the displacement was increased to 1466 cc, with the bore widened to 72 mm resulting in 63 bhp. The model was offered as TF 1500 and built about 3400 times.

Today the TFs are among the most popular collector and driving cars because they are safe and fast.

This TF was originally still delivered with the XPAG (D2) engine with 1250 cc and 42 KW / (57HP), but the engine was bored in the context of a professional overhaul of the MG expert to 1466 cc / 46 KW and now corresponds with its 63HP to the values of the TF 1500. The engine starts immediately and runs sporty silky smooth.

The 5 speed gearbox shifts precisely and the chassis corresponds to the advertising slogan “safety fast”.
The leaf springs were renewed and also the complete brake system.
The interior is in perfect condition, even if the seat surfaces show a discreet patina, but no damage.

The roof and the carpets were renewed true to the period and even the speedometer was restored exactly at Ka-Ja.

The TF has always been professionally maintained and of course there is an expert report you can see in the pictures below.
Even a FIVA passport is available and of course the car is also registered as a classic car with the “H-plate”.

The license plate “MG TF 53H” is of course suitable for the car, but the best thing is, you can keep it within Germany, no matter if you register the MG outside Mönchengladbach.

The overall impression confirms that this is not a blender, as many offered TFs, but this TF is maintained by professionals and sold by a professional.
