911 Targa 2.0 S softwindow

All rarities united in one dream car.

The famous aera of the 911 began in 1963 when the “standard” 911, if you can even use the word standard with the 911, was presented. It came with comfort seats and 130 horsepower as a coupé.

The clientele of the 356 Cabrio hoped for a convertible variant. Due to the emerging safety awareness of buyers, the later presentation of the 911 Targa became an acclaimed success.
In addition to the standard version described above, there was also the rare “high end version” of the time as a 2.0 S with 160 hp, which at the time meant brute power in a single car, considering that the average car was powered by 30 – 50 hp. The optional factory Recaro sports seats rounded off the sporty handling perfectly.

This polo red 911 2.0 S Targa with the rare softwindow, first delivered in Germany, has all these coveted extras and even wears all matching numbers and colours as shown in the “Porsche Kadex-card”.

Check the Kadex to prove the factory delivered condition.

This 911 2.0 S shows up in shiny, but years ago repainted, polo red.

The current 3rd owner sells the car because of age.
In 1975 he bought it from the 2. owner, the workshop foreman at the Porsche dealer, who had bought it before from the Porsche dealer as 1. owner.

This 911 stood in a collection undriven the last years and shows up those typical diseases of standing.
The engine starts right up, runs smooth and the gearbox does its job silently, but you can feel some play in the shift linkage. Once you reach the 120km/h you feel a little less power which is due to the carburetors. After the long standing time they should be overhauled.

The overall impression of this rare 2.0 S softwindow Targa is quite good, but needs some love, facing its quite original condition. Nothing needs to be welded, but as said carburaters, shift linkage, brake hoses, etc. need some attention.

In 1978 the original engine was completely overhauled at Porsche due to an oil problem.

This 911 2.0 S softwindow Targa comes accident free with all matching numbers and colours.

This 911 combines all the rarities of a 911 in “factory high end level” back then, and makes this Targa one of the most wanted Porsche 911 Targas.
