In the 1982 model year, a fourth Porsche model series came onto the market: the 944 filled the gap between the 924 and the 911 SC in terms of price and performance.Although the body of the 944 was based on that of the 924, it was clearly more strikingly shaped. In addition, a 2.5-litre in-line four-cylinder engine developed by Porsche itself was used in the 944. This made the 944 a “real” Porsche in the eyes of the customers. This transaxle model was also produced by Audi in Neckarsulm.A front spoiler painted in the body colour with square rubber buffers as well as significantly wider, slightly angular wings clearly distinguished the 944 visually from the 924. The 2.5 litre engine initially produced 163 hp; from MY 86 a catalytic converter version with 150 hp was available. In MY 1988, the catalytic converter engine was tuned to run on unleaded premium fuel, increasing output to 160 hp. For the last model year (1989), the displacement was increased to 2.7 litres; power grew to 165 hp.
This Porsche 944 was built in 1985 with a 5 Gear Manual Gearbox the Targa Roof and Leather Interior. It just ran through a good overhaul of the technical components to enjoy it for the next years. At the overhaul the Clutch was renewed and a new Exhaust System came into place. The timing belt and the waterpump were changed. New wishbones were put into place as well as track rods. Additionally it got a fresh paintjob in Azuritblau.
This Porsche 944 is the perfect daily driver.
