The term Targa originated from the Targa Florio, a famous endurance race held from 1906 to 1977, where Porsche scored some decisive victories in its motorsport career.
Targa means “shield” in Italian and was Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche AG’s response to emerging safety thinking, and the term Targa is a Porsche AG trademarked term for car models.
Since there was no convertible in the so-called 911 series of “F” models, the Targa quickly advanced to become a popular car with a sense of freedom…. fitting for the 1960s and 1970s.

This offered 911 SC Targa shows up in quite shiny black, though its thickness measurements show a range of 400 to 800. That is the only room for discussions: the exterieur.
