VW Golf GTi

These 3 “magic” letters make the heart of every Golf enthusiast beat faster.

The special model “Fire and Ice” was offered in the model years 1990 and 1991.
The name was inspired by the film Fire, Ice & Dynamite directed by Willy Bogner junior and starring Roger Moore and Simon Shepherd.

Due to the special paint “Dark Violet perleffect” (color code: LC4V), wide sill trim, wheel arch extensions, narrow trim on the doors, large partially painted bumpers, painted tailgate handle, body color painted exterior mirror housings, large round “Fire and Ice” logos as decals on the C-pillars, round “Fire and Ice” emblems on the front fenders in place of the side turn signals, rear lettering in pink, Graphic emblem next to the rear lettering “Golf”, special interior in purple / blue with large embroidered emblems on the backs of the standard sports seats, carpet and headliner black and anthracite, “Fire and Ice” emblem on the front ashtray, aluminum wheels 6×15 “Estoril” with tires 195/50R15 the “Fire and Ice” already stood out from the crowd.

Not without reason the GTi “Fire and Ice” belongs to popular collector’s items.

Unfortunately, many of them fell victim to the tuning fashion in the 90s and were almost disfigured, which of course is always in the eye of the beholder.

Of course, the most valuable are always the remaining originals like this offered original “Fire and Ice”.

This “Fire and Ice” gets sold by the wife of the first owner who got registered as 2nd owner in the papers, after her husband passed away.
Even the new car invoice is still with the car.

This family owned “Fire and Ice” was always used as 3rd car in the family, what explaines the low mileage of 72.000 km.

During his life the GTi was well maintained and just passed the TÜV this Oktober (valid until Oktober 2024) without flaws.
In this context, the Golf received an extensive inspection including a new timing belt.

Watching the interieur you see how well it was taken care of.
In the 90s, the theft of car radios was commonplace. That’s what happened to this Golf and that’s why they decided to go for the then popular “quickout” variant and optimized the sound system with speakers in the parcel shelf.

The Gti is mostly in its first paint and shows light but easily repairable scratches, so the lady decided to sell the car before it suffers more damage.

People of older generations still have the honor of selling a car flawlessly without any deliberate hidden defects, which is your advantage with this GTi “Fire and Ice”. In this regard, see the bill of just under 3,000€ at the end of the image gallery.

If you look nowadays for an original GTi you will hardly find a car as original as this one.
