In March 1981, the Scirocco II appeared – with a completely changed appearance: “The new Scirocco. Excitingly sensible” is the slogan for the market launch. The Scirocco II is again developed and produced by Karmann in Osnabrück.

Like its predecessor, the new Scirocco is based on the platform of the Golf I. The specifications call for an enlarged interior and luggage compartment as well as a lowering of the cw value to reduce fuel consumption. Giorgetto Giugiaro was also involved in the design process, but his proposal was not accepted by the Wolfsburg design department under Herbert Schäfer.

Compared to its predecessor, the shape has an almost gentle character, the side view is characterised by a horizontal beltline, many corners are rounded, and it is also 20 centimetres longer. The Scirocco II has a larger interior than its predecessor. The shape of the side panels creates more space in the usable interior width – this principle was later adopted for the Golf II. The headroom is greater at the front and rear due to the way the roof runs.

The 1990 VW Scirocco GT was part of the second-generation Scirocco lineup, which was produced till 1992.

The Scirocco GT featured a sleek and aerodynamic design, characterized by its distinctive wedge-shaped profile. It had a low-slung body with a sloping roofline, giving it a sporty and dynamic appearance. The front end typically had a wide grille, quad headlights, and a prominent VW emblem. The rear end featured angular taillights and a spoiler, further enhancing its sporty aesthetics.

The 1990 Scirocco GT was available with different engine options, depending on the market. One common engine was the 1.8-liter inline-4, which produced around 123 horsepower. The engine was typically mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, providing a spirited driving experience.

Inside the cabin, the Scirocco GT offered a driver-focused layout with sporty accents. It typically had bucket-style seats with good bolstering for improved support during spirited driving. The interior featured a mix of materials, including cloth or leather upholstery, depending on the trim level. Standard features included a sport steering wheel, sporty instrument cluster, and various convenience features such as power windows and air conditioning.

With its lightweight construction and responsive engines, the Scirocco GT delivered enjoyable performance. The 1.8-litre engine provided decent acceleration and nimble handling, making it a fun car to drive on winding roads.

This Scirocco GT  is 1st hand, new vehicle invoice and order from 1990 included. Original condition, nothing changed. Only the parcel shelf was covered with imitation leather, but there are no holes or similar underneath.

The Scirocco was delivered in the Colour: green pearl effect R 6 with the interior: a four-colour chequered fashion check, like in the original brochure that comes with the Car.

The Owner bought the car in February 2022 after the garage where it was parked for the last 3 years was cancelled.

German car from NRW from first hand. Original brochure from the delivering dealer, as well as new vehicle invoice and order, are present, old letter as well. Service booklet is there, but only until 1997, after that, there are a few more MOT certificates.

Still registered in first owners name.

In 07/2022, in the course of the main inspection and H acceptance, extensively and technically refreshed (incl. new tyres, ZR, etc.); the front right Koti and left door below the trim were repainted (also 2022).

The Interior is still with the steering wheel and radio as at the time of delivery, with no additional boxes or similar knick-knacks. No suspension, no flanged wheel arches – nothing, everything as it was!

Smells and drives like a VW from the 80s/90s :)
